All the mobile based social share buttons as WhatsApp, Viber, SMS, Telegram, Line are available for work only on mobile devices. That makes their desktop display unusable and unnecessary.

So if your desktop displayed WhatsApp button does not work, you have to know that there is no issue here – it is just as it has to be.

The mobile based networks do not provide share feature via desktop devices.

Please note that WhatsApp and Viber share buttons still work via mobile only although there are desktop versions for the both of the apps

Here is video tutorial how to set up WhatsApp for mobile display only.

Keep in mind that only tree of the mobile display methods are mobile responsive: Share buttons bar, Share bar, Share point.

Depends on the display method you choose the place for choosing the networks are different.

Setting Separate Mobile Display With Shortcode

When shortcode is used to display buttons it is needed to have two different codes for mobile and desktop display.

At the shortcode for desktop you need to add parameter hide_mobile=”yes” and that will prevent that social buttons pack to display for mobiles.

The second shortcode for mobiles should contain only_mobile=”yes” parameter. That will make it display only for mobiles.
